Nehru Studies Centre established in 2008-09

Jawaharlal Nehru, a leader with great vision and dynamism was one amongst the few Indians who came out of the cocoon of luxury and dedicated his life for the nation. He envisioned a new India that was to be free from dogmatism, exploitation and poverty.  Nehru‘s passionate commitment for an emancipated and modern  India found expression in his attachment to the six principles of nationalism and scientific temper in all aspects of his life: secular outlook of politics: cosmopolitanism in culture: concern for the use of modern technology: scientific skills for the development of economy: adoption of socialistic principles of Indian conditions for pursuing the objective of social justice and  economic growth through the progressive policies of a participatory federal democracy.

Nehru’s acute sense of history, his mystic communication with the Indian psyche, and his undying deep concerns for the relevant, the rational and the progressive and incessant longing for the transformation of this traditional society into a modern polity-all committed him to a long life mission for the completion of gigantic socio-economic revolution in India. The tripartite synthesis was reflected so fully in Nehru’s mental makeup, as one refers to his writings, as well as policy decisions- both during the struggle for national independence and later during the formative phase of democratic nation–building. Nehru more than any other leader represented in a real sense a new enlightened generation of modern India.

The Nehru Studies Centre in D.A.V. College was established in 2008. The Centre is working under the wise guidance of Prof PamRajput and Principal Dr. Sushma Arya. The   faculty of Political Science and Human Rights is looking after the extension research and teaching activities of the centre.
