The roots of public administration go back to the times of plato and Aristotle who highlighted the importance of the government in public life. In this regard Kautilya’s contribution through his book Arth Shastra (Economics) is note worthy.

Public Administration is a system through which the government carries out its business of ruling and controlling effectively. This system has been created in order to maintain a civil society and to cater to the needs of the public. Any unelected public employee who deals directly with the general public can be said to be a public administrator. of the late public administration has been introduced  in acadmia.

 The modern competitive world has given rise to a huge recruitment of specialized, educated public administrators because of on going pressure of globalization, information technology and terrorism. Public administration requires high level of diplomatic skill and thorough knowledge of public issues. There are  number of jobs and career prospects for a trained and motivated public administrator.

Students can opt for public administration as a subject in civil service exam.

Public administration is going to become compulsory subject for the exam of UPSC.

A person can become a school teacher and if he/she clear NET exam can become college lecturer.

The students who qualify HPSC, SSC exam can become salestax officer, Income Tax Officer, Administrative  Officer and clerks etc.
