The Department of HomeScience was established in 1958 and since then it has been progressing with leaps and bounds. The curriculum is innovative and has a strong practical base to keep pace with the dynamics and changing educational and professional needs in the field of nutrition,health care, textiles, resource management, interior decoration and human development. This will enable the students to translate theory into practice and develop their skills for placement opportunities.

- A team of 8 dedicated and well qualified faculty members to teach around 150 students
- We have HomeScience as an elective subject in B.A along with specialised courses namely B.Sc( Home Science) and P.G Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics. We also offer Add on course in Bakery and Confectionary .
- Well equipped 2 labs but one lab fitted with LCD projector.
- Diet clinic for imparting dietary counselling.
- A motivated group of students are involved in academics ,sports, cultural activities, Rotaract club, N.S.S. , N.C.C .
- Equipments like Microwave ovens, grillers , foodprocessors, induction tops , fashionmaker etc. expose students to the latest in the field of Home Science.
- Lease line internet connection connects students to information Highway.
- The department faculty members are involved in doing research ,taking up Major and Minor research projects,attending conferences, presenting and publishing papers in journals.
- National Seminars and College level extension activities and workshops are organised to update the faculty and students about the latest in the field of Home Science and also sensitize on social issues.
