National Workshop on Research Methodology and Data Analysis Using SPSS

 

The Department of Economics D.A.V College for girls, Yamuna Nagar is organizing three days National Workshop on Research Methodology and Data Analysis Using SPSS. This workshop will discuss the following issues. A.) Data collection, data entry and data cleaning, B.) Quantitative data description and its presentation in tables and graphs and C.) Statistical hypothesis testing. D.) OLS estimators and its properties. E.) Goodness of fit. F.) Derivation and Interpretation of co-efficient. G.) Adjusted R-square. H.)  Prediction and Residuals (Error term). I.) Analysis.

Programme Schedule:-

9:30 to 11:00 am	Inauguration of Workshop.	Theory of research methodology	Theory of research methodology
11:00 to 1:00 pm	Theory on Research Methodology. Introduction to SPSS 16.0.	Elementary probability and discreet probability distribution, normal density functions.	Two sample hypothesis testing and Analysis of Variance, Linear Regression.
1:00 to 1:30 pm	Break	Break	Break
1:30 to 4:30 pm	Tables and graphs for one and two variables, One and Two variable descriptive statistics.	Sampling distribution, confidence intervals, One sampling hypothesis test.	Multiple regression and non linear models. Basic forecasting techniques and Non parametric test, Chi- Square. (CLOSING)

Pedagogy.

The program delivery will have a mix of lectures, interactive sessions, case analysis, and hand on training on SPSS and other related software. Each participant will be provided personal computers along with required statistical software and data basis during the program. Study material will be provided as a part of the program.  

Target Audience.

Faculty members, research scholars of Economics, Human Resources, Management Economics, Commerce and Social Sciences faculties, student of Honors and P.G (M.A Economics and M.com) and other professionals like B.B.A and M.B.A streams can participate in this workshop.
